3 Reasons To Spread Christmas Cheer NOW
Hey! We love that you're interested in this, but just a heads up, it's for North Florida.
Alright yes we know – it’s September. Don’t worry – we’re not playing Christmas music yet! Either way we know what you’re thinking – It’s WAY too early to be talking about Christmas! BUT when you’re talking about giving Christmas to children around the WORLD you’ve got to start early! Providing Christmas for 10 millions kids in over 100 different countries doesn’t allow for free 2-day shipping so we’ve got to start NOW (and you thought Santa had his work cut out for him!)
You probably know all about Operation Christmas Child and their shoe box program – if not, it’s an AMAZING program where people just like YOU pack shoe boxes you have lying around your house FULL of fun toys and necessities and then Samaritan’s Purse sends it to children around the world! Since 1993, Samaritan’s Purse has collected and delivered more than 100 million gift-filled shoeboxes to children in more than 100 countries.
Now the shoe box collection week doesn’t start until November but we have a great opportunity for your ENTIRE family to get involved with Operation Christmas Child NOW! On September 27th we’ll be joining Tallahassee Heights United Methodist Church for a Toy Workshop! You and your family can actually help us BUILD toys to put into the shoe boxes! Everybody loves a homemade gift over something you can just buy in the store. And here’s why this is such an amazing opportunity:
1. Provide Christmas (and Hope) for Children Around The World
Yes these children receive boxes FULL of toys, games, candy, and some of life’s necessities. But you’re giving so much MORE than fun with your shoe box. Each box is packed with the gospel message of Jesus Christ in each child’s native language AND it even equips them to become missionaries in their own village, town, and country as they share the Good News with their friends and family. Churches are built on the work of Operation Christmas Child, families are redeemed, and the gospel has reached countries where it has never been heard before. All because you took the time to fill a shoe box with toys
2. Teach Your Children
It truly is better to give than receive! And what better message is there to pass on to our children in today’s ME culture. Your children will learn about missions, giving, evangelism, and sacrifice all by building a simple toy at our Workshop! We want this to be a family activity! We want the ENTIRE family to come and help build a toy or even just write a letter to put into a shoe box. There is something for everyone to do!
3. Live Service Out Locally AND Internationally
It’s a 2 for 1! Live Service Out here in our community by joining WAY-FM a local church with a service project. A service project that just so happens to reach over 100 countries around the world! Be the hands and feet of Jesus as they walk all the way from North Florida and South Georgia to the ends of the earth!
So join us September 27th at Tallahassee Heights United Methodist Church for our Operation Christmas Child Toy Workshop! Just bring your friends and family, a small stuffed animal (for each shoe box), and a lot of creativity as we Live Service Out together!
