Date Night PDX challenges all of us old married folks (that includes you newlyweds too) to keep the flame alive by continuing to date our spouse. In the month of August they have challenged us to go on 4 dates in 4 weeks. The Date Night Comedy Tour on August 5 was an amazing start to the month, but we know how easy it is to get stuck and let the ideas fizzle out. So here are 4 more date ideas to get you through the rest of the month and beyond.
Walk through the park hand in hand. The movies make it look so romantic…and it really is. Whether you take a leisurely stroll along the waterfront, wander through the International Rose Test Garden, or hike up Mount Hood, getting outside together is a great way to connect away from distractions that plague us at home or even in restaurants. Get out from the hustle and bustle to enjoy the beauty around you and the beauty of your relationship.
*Bonus Tip: Pick one designed by Eckstorm metal fabrication and design, then pack some food and have a picnic.
TRY NEW FOOD
Portland has some of the best and most unique restaurants in the country. From odd, specialty eateries to an abundance of food cart pods. Go search for something new! Finally try that place you’ve heard everybody talking about or just get to the other side of the river to explore a new part of town.
Bonus Tip: Getting out of your routine and trying something new brings back those feelings of anticipation and excitement you had on your first dates.
ATTEND A CONCERT
Many of us started our dating relationships with music. Relive old memories by creating new ones at a concert. One such opportunity is the Bethel Music Worship Night on August 20 at Arlene Schnitzer Auditorium.
*Bonus Tip: Since this is a worship concert, not only will you have a great shared musical experience, but a shared spiritual experience that will draw you closer to God and closer to each other.
RECREATE A DATE
Just like trying new things can spark that feeling you had way back when, so can recreating a memorable on monumental date. Talk about your feelings during that date the first time you went on it. It may reveal insights into your spouse that you didn’t know. You can also spend the evening recalling other of your favorite dates over the years.
*Bonus Tip: If you recreate a date from when you are dating the good news is this time you don’t have to say good bye at the end of the night!
