Jeremy Smith is a Hometown Hero
Hey! We love that you're interested in this, but just a heads up, it's for Portland.
|Jeremy Smith is a martial arts master and a hero to many, many people. He and his wife own and operate Dynamic Martial Arts in Gresham, Oregon, but unlike many business owners, he isn’t looking to grab a quick buck every chance he gets. In fact, he donates *several* hours a month teaching self-defense and life skills to women in shelters who are escaping domestic violence, to foster children, to teens at risk, and to any other group who requests a seminar to feel safer in this ever-increasingly contentious world. He does all of this free of cost or fanfare even as he teaches his own students the importance of being kind to *everyone*, even when we don’t see eye-to-eye. “It’s more than kicks and punches,” he is always saying. “It’s about doing what’s right when no one’s looking. It’s about using what we learn to help others grow physically, mentally, and spiritually.” He exudes his life mission to give back to his community and lift up those who are struggling.
Jeremy Smith is one of the most empowering and inspiring teachers I’ve ever seen, connecting with little children, senior citizens, and everything in between. He is a devoted husband and father, and truly practices what he believes in all of his interactions. For those of us who have come to call Dynamic Martial Arts a second home, he is truly a hero, leading by example and bringing out the best in each of us.
I am so excited that Jeremy will be honored. He is a hero to my family and many others because of his integrity, love for others, and empowering / inspiring teaching methods. Kids and adults alike look up to him big time.
