Mike Lord is a Hometown Hero! Here is the nomination letter we received about Mike:
Mike Lord is a teacher at Oregon City High School. Along with being an amazing father of 6 kids in his own blended family, he encourages hundreds of students everyday towards making positive changes within the school that focus on culture, unity, enthusiasm, and involvement. In addition to teaching social studies in the classroom, he’s the student counsel advisor of a program that was honored with the Gold Council of Excellence recognition. Only four Oregon schools received this prestigious award. He’s the voice of the Pioneers! Each season he announces the basketball home games, runs all the school dances and activities, and organizes all the pep assemblies. He also takes time out of his already crazy busy work day to help with the coaching staff for the baseball team. He is seen out mowing the baseball field weekly, nearly all year round. He’s worked with building inclusive programs like the “We Dine Together”, which makes sure no kid sits and eats alone during lunch, and more personal basic needs such as the Pioneer Pantry that helps substitute meals for kids in need. There are so many groups he partners with to help kids that I can’t list them all in this square! Mike is a true mentor, father, friend, and humanitarian hero!
104.5 WAY-FM along with Eric and Carli of Homes for Heroes would like to thank Mike for all of his hard work and dedication to kids as a teacher, coach, mentor, and father. It is truly inspiring to see what Mike is doing and the difference he is making in the lives of so many in our community. Mike, you are our hero!
Mike was nominated by his wife Jessica and their children Rilyn, Parker, Ella, Carly, Andrew, and Grant.
